Orleans Affordable Housing Trust landed a $4 million state grant for its Governor Prince project.
Other Committee · Meeting of October 15, 2026
Orleans Affordable Housing Trust landed a $4 million state grant for its Governor Prince project. Assistant Director of Planning Elizabeth Jenkins told the board the Housing Works Infrastructure Program award, the largest the trust has received, will fund site clearing and infrastructure for 78 units, far exceeding the typical $1 million to $2 million the trust targets. Select Board member Mary Wright asked how the money affects the project's overall budget; Jenkins said staff and attorneys are still determining "exactly where that fits on the balance sheet." Separately, the trust began weighing a 2.11-acre town-owned parcel at 44 Main Street as a possible second affordable-housing site modeled on its 107 Main Street project.
The board also heard from Cape Cod Commission Deputy Director Aaron Perry, who said regional housing demand is projected to outpace supply by 11,000 to nearly 22,000 units within a decade. Members voted 6-0 to approve September's minutes and 6-0 to adjourn.
