ORLEANS — The Orleans Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners voted unanimously to support Article 20, a generator-funding article, at the November Special Town Meeting. Director of Public Works Rich Waldo and water department staffer Sue Brown caught a miscalculated flow application from a restaurant at 89 Old Colony Way seeking to expand from 35 to 72 seats; the corrected figure was 756 gallons per day, far below the 10,080 gallons originally requested, and the board took no action pending a revised filing. The board voted 6-1, with Tim Brady dissenting, to recommend the Board of Health grant a sewer connection deferral to The Rail at 222 Main Street, and voted unanimously to recommend a similar deferral for the Orleans Historical Society's planned Three River Road museum addition.
Commissioner Kevin Mahoney reported Orleans was one of six entities statewide recognized at a Worcester ceremony for the state revolving loan fund reaching a "$10 billion milestone." Waldo said a sewer and water rate discussion, tied to the FY28 budget, is now planned for December rather than October "because we just don't have it 100 percent identified."
