ORLEANS — The Orleans Site Plan Review Committee cleared a new tattoo studio and a long-closed restaurant's revival at its October 7 meeting. Members voted 5-0 to waive formal site plan review for Painted Savage Tattoo's second location at 35 Route 28, where owner Kenneth Standee plans walk-in and appointment service with up to five employees. Fire department representative Greg Baker recommended, but didn't require, vehicle bollards and said the shop can't open until a final alarm test is complete.
The committee separately voted unanimously to approve, with conditions, architect Sibelle's plan to renovate the former Katie's Restaurant at 212-214 Main Street for owner Clifford Harvey, including added bathrooms, a widened 24-foot driveway and an expanded 31-space gravel lot. Conditions require Department of Public Works review of the drainage design, four native street trees, wheel stops and a lighting plan. "This is a terrific restaurant, we can't wait to see it reopened," the committee chair said.
Members also approved the September 16 meeting minutes, 5-0.
