ORLEANS — The Orleans Architectural Review Committee approved new signage for two Route 6A businesses and a revised pool fence at the Cove Motel, while continuing to work through fire station design details. Chair Kelly McCarthy's board unanimously approved a replacement sign for Chivo restaurant at 15 Cove Road and conditionally approved a new barn-board sign for the Nauset Fish Market and Lobster Pool, pending a Building Commissioner and DPW sight-distance review after members warned the design could "block that whole view" for drivers exiting the lot. The Cove Motel's pool fence was approved as a five-foot cedar stockade after a representative, Dillon, said state health code barred the originally proposed black aluminum fencing.
On the town's new fire station, architects Ted Galante and Paula Grissimi presented revised drawings addressing door styles, lettering and backlighting; the committee voted to accept the design "as submitted and as amended" by the evening's notes, with Fire Chief Dearing's operational concerns still to be reconciled before the matter returns from the Building Committee.
