Orleans ZBA Continues Eppinger Garage Case to Sept. 16
Zoning Board · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Orleans Zoning Board holds back 40B hearing minutes while weighing its own attorney. Chairman Gerald Mulligan and members Matthew Cole, Sibel Asantugrul, David Lyttle and Robert Wilkinson voted 5-0 to approve minutes from two routine sessions but held three others tied to a contested Chapter 40B hearing. Asantugrul objected to draft minutes calling a traffic increase "substantial," saying "the people, the board and the audience didn't feel that a 44% increase over the summer was substantial." Members debated asking the Select Board to fund independent counsel, with Lyttle warning the town has "a lot of wealthy folks that may decide they want to try this in court," but agreed only to have the town's existing attorney review the minutes for now.
In separate business, the board voted 5-0 to continue Frederick and Patricia Eppinger's special permit for a detached garage at 32 Hayward Lane to September 16, 2026.
