Orleans Cultural Council Opens 2027 Grant Cycle
Cultural Council · Meeting of August 31, 2026
Orleans Cultural Council opens its 2027 grant cycle with $5,700 to award. Treasurer Heather Morin confirmed the Massachusetts Cultural Council allocation and said a financial report is due into the state's grant system by October 8, with applications open September 1 through October 15. Secretary Ellen Snyder-Grenier said she circulated a press release and flyers announcing the window, while absent member Michael Abbott posted notice to the town website.
The council, lacking a quorum, tabled approval of its prior minutes. Members pushed both the student art show and Movies in the Park to spring 2027, with the art show eyeing April 2 or April 9 and Movies in the Park losing its staff "champion," Tom, to a departure that leaves communications officer Amanda Converse as the likely successor. "I think it's more impactful to hear it from one of you," said an outreach collaborator identified only as Mary, urging a member to publicize the grants at the Select Board's public comment.
