Orleans Cultural Council Delays Art Show to Spring
Cultural Council · Meeting of August 3, 2026
Orleans Cultural Council agrees to push its annual student art show from a proposed November date to spring 2027. Members Sandra Melody and Katherine Silkin argued students needed more time, with Melody calling the fall timeline "way too soon" given the "matting and framing and organizing" involved. The council also delayed its planned September "Movies in the Park" debut to spring at a town liaison's recommendation and is eyeing the 1986 Cape Cod comedy "One Crazy Summer" as its first screening.
Member Heather Morin reported 4 of 13 awarded grants have returned complete paperwork, with roughly $6,800 still outstanding. The 2027 grant cycle opens September 1 and closes October 15, 2026, with new language giving priority to Orleans-benefiting projects. Minutes from June were approved unanimously; no other formal votes were taken.
