Orleans panel approves four permits, delays five
Conservation · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Orleans Conservation Commission approves four wetland permits, delays five over a DEP paperwork lag. Conservation Administrator John Janelle told the board state DEP tracking numbers have been running roughly two weeks late statewide, forcing continuances for a Thayer Lane addition, two Carlton Road coastal-bank restorations, and a Winslow Drive garage project. The commission voted 7-0 to approve a title 5 septic upgrade at 9 Carver Road and, also 7-0, approved a deck-and-patio project at 2 Twinings Lane and a pool-and-retaining-wall project at 22 Harbor View Lane that includes a "Vista corridor" toward Little Mill Pond.
Commissioner Judith Bruce said she was "not at all expecting a three-story addition" at the Thayer Lane property, where five storm-damaged trees are proposed for removal. Bartlett Tree Experts' Katrine Higgins outlined a 10,300-square-foot voluntary restoration spanning two Carlton Road coastal banks.
