Orleans Cultural Council Moves Student Art Show to November, Targets Village Green Movie Nights

ORLEANS — March 2, 2026 — Orleans Cultural Council shifts student art show to November and advances movies-in-the-park talks. Chair Brian Smith and Secretary Ellen Snyder-Grenier reported that a meeting with Cape Cod Regional Technical High School art department head Ryan Birchall produced enthusiastic buy-in for moving the annual student art show from spring to early November 2026, with possible expansion to include elementary school students and a film component from the school's new TV studio. Treasurer Heather Morin confirmed that all Massachusetts Cultural Council grant approvals and denials have been distributed, with four supplemental grants added beyond the original approved list. Smith updated the council on exploratory conversations with Lower Cape TV about a possible movies-in-the-park partnership, with Select Board Liaison Andrea Shaw Reed and Town Liaison Tom DeSiervo both urging the council to position itself as an idea incubator and funder rather than an event producer. The council also discussed helping to publicize a March 31 Trans Day of Visibility reading by author Nico Lang at the Provincetown Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse.
