Cultural Council · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Orleans Cultural Council set its 2027 grant vote for November 2 and locked in a March 12 reception for its student ArtShow. The council voted unanimously to allocate $500 in town warrant funds, not grant money, for mat board, hanging supplies and new outdoor signage ahead of the show, which moves back to its traditional March date after high school and elementary art teachers said an April show would conflict with other school art events. Member Heather Morin will manage printing three hard-copy grant binders and getting four digital copies out by email, alongside a rating sheet, once the Massachusetts Cultural Council finalizes the application packet around October 22.

Members pushed Movies in the Park off the active agenda until January and said a prospective member, Claire, expects Select Board swearing-in by November. One member acknowledged a pending email from a resident asking why her grant request was denied, saying "I will send her an email" with a response.
