Nauset Committee Approves FY26 Budget Transfers, Warrant
School Committee · Meeting of August 26, 2026
ORLEANS — Nauset Regional School Committee closes FY26 with a $780,744 surplus and commits $1.37 million to prepay FY27 special education costs. Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Beth reported actual expenditures of $39.8 million against a $43.2 million budget, calling the result "a strong, stable financial position," and said the district aims to have its excess-and-deficiency account certified by the state by November 1. The committee voted 7-0 to approve the FY26 budget transfers and the June warrant report, totaling $6,197,340.22, and voted to adopt the Plymouth County OPEB Trust for retiree health benefits, 7-0 with one recusal.
Separately, the committee paused the district's adult education program for a community-needs review after losing its coordinator, and heard that regional-agreement talks with member towns over rotating leadership, weighted votes and capital costs remain unresolved ahead of a September 17 presentation and an October 10 joint meeting.
