Trust Doubles Loan Cap, Approves Old Tote Road Sale
Other Committee · Meeting of September 17, 2026
Orleans Affordable Housing Trust doubles its emergency loan cap and clears a $1 property sale. The trust voted 6-0-0 to raise its home-repair loan maximum from $20,000 to $40,000 and added $65,000 to the program, bringing available funds to roughly $120,000. Members also approved, 6-0-0, selling 22 Old Tote Road to the Housing Assistance Corporation of Hyannis for $1, creating two income-restricted and two market-rate rental units, with closing anticipated October 5.
Staff member Elizabeth told the board that a Massachusetts Historical Commission requirement for an "intensive archaeological survey" could complicate the Governor Prince Motel redevelopment's December 2 tax-credit deadline. Amanda Bebrin of the Community Development Partnership briefed new members on the Lower Cape Housing Institute, telling the board "if town meeting doesn't buy it, then it literally doesn't happen." Trust member Scott Wood questioned the statistical value of a planned housing needs survey for an upcoming community fair.
