Panel approves sign, delays fire station design vote
Other Committee · Meeting of September 24, 2026
Orleans architectural panel approves a health clinic sign but splits over the look of a new fire station. The Architectural Review Committee unanimously approved a replacement sign for Outer Cape Health Services' new clinic at 204 Main Street, then spent over two hours reviewing the roughly 42,000-square-foot fire station designed by Galante Architecture Studio for Eldridge Parkway. Vice Chair Andrew Miao pushed for a "more classic Cape Cod" look and criticized a proposed gray stone veneer as "sad looking," while member Nancy Jorgensen countered, "I'm very well versed in modern architecture and classic design." Owner's Project Manager Richard Pomeroy cited a project cost near $55 million and said geothermal well counts could nearly double from an original estimate of 26.
Resident Steven Stanley said the building's roughly 42,000-square-foot footprint is "twice as big as the lots" nearby. The board continued its design review to October 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Nauset Room.
