Finance Committee revises annual report, flags fiscal concerns
Finance Committee · Meeting of January 8, 2026
ORLEANS — The Finance Committee approved prior meeting minutes and finalized revisions to its annual report letter, which will highlight growing financial concerns for the FY27 budget cycle. Chair Elaine Baird and Member John Cooper will incorporate language addressing long-range capital planning and debt service, with the letter due to Town Meeting by January 12. The committee stressed the need for early identification of budget pressure points including increasing state and federal mandates without corresponding funding, capacity constraints for capital projects and debt service, and strain on water and wastewater enterprise funds with likely future fee increases.
Joint budget review sessions with the Select Board were scheduled for January 21, 28, and February 4.
