Planning Board · Meeting of October 27, 2026

ORLEANS — The Orleans Planning Board reviewed a Town Cove flood-resiliency study and reworked explanatory language for four zoning warrant articles, taking no votes on either. Consultant Nate Burgess of Dotson & Flinker told the board a Rotary-area floodplain will expand by 2070 and that MassDOT is studying road-elevation options there. Vice Chair Lynne Eickholt suggested sorting recommendations into "must-do," "nice-to-do," and community-forum categories.

Assistant Director of Planning Elizabeth Jenkins said a final resiliency report is due in June. Members pushed for simpler, before-and-after explanations of zoning Articles 5 through 8, covering use-table updates, parking standards, and a downtown housing overlay waiver. The board voted 5-0 by roll call to cancel its November 24 and December 22 meetings and 5-0 to approve its October 13 minutes.
