Snow Library Board Forms Subcommittee to Weigh New Building Against Renovation

ORLEANS — Snow Library Board takes first steps toward a building-future subcommittee. The Snow Library Board of Trustees voted 5-0, with one abstention, to approve its June 2 minutes at the July 7 meeting, then turned to planning a subcommittee that will weigh new library construction against renovation of the existing building, with input expected from a town-wide municipal property assessment already under way. Trustee Bill said he should serve given his experience: "I wrote a book for the American Library Association on library building projects — they asked me to write it based on the work I was doing around the country." Friends of Snow Library Representative Tracey Salley reported year-to-date net income of approximately $75,800, up about $6,500 over the prior year, with a June 27 all-day book sale topping $1,000 and a major donor event at the Town Cove Taproom drawing 66 attendees.

The board agreed to skip its August meeting, keep its September session on the first Tuesday, and shift to first-Monday meetings at 4:30 p.m. starting in October.
