Orleans Fire Rescue Station Committee Selects TGAS, Skips Interview Round

ORLEANS — December 1, 2025 — Orleans fire rescue station committee picks TGAS as designer in 5-1 vote, bypassing interviews. The Orleans Fire Rescue Station Building Committee voted Monday to recommend architectural firm TGAS — also referred to as Galante — as the designer for the town's new fire rescue station, skipping a formal interview round with the two finalists to protect an aggressive procurement schedule with a December 15 deadline. Most members scored TGAS above competitor KBA, citing the firm's net-zero fire station experience — including work on the Williamstown, Massachusetts, net-zero fire station — and a more project-specific proposal. Taylor McDonald of Pomroy Associates, the committee's owner's project manager, said KBA's proposal "didn't try to focus in on the Orleans side of things enough." The committee's next step is a fee proposal from TGAS and a tentative kickoff meeting December 15, with spring Town Meeting as the target for presenting schematic designs and a construction budget estimate.
