Orleans Community Preservation Committee closes three dormant grant accounts and flags unsigned purchase orders. The committee voted unanimously at its July 2 meeting to close three accounts with zero or near-zero balances — an autistic housing fund, the French Cable Shades account ($165 remaining), and a CDP Workshop account — and flagged a procedural problem in which purchase orders on at least two projects, including a $24,000 archaeological contract, had been drawn without the signatures of the responsible committee members. "They can't just take the money," the chair said, adding she planned to raise the issue with town staff.

The committee also deferred action on a written procedural policy document drafted by member John Lippmann after member Bob Wilkinson argued that the committee's informal approach had been effective. The total encumbered balance across all open accounts was estimated at approximately $3 million to $4 million.
