Orleans Climate Committee Eyes MassEnergize Membership After Platform Presentation

ORLEANS — June 23, 2026 — Orleans energy committee hears pitch for MassEnergize climate-outreach platform and eyes July vote. The Orleans Energy and Climate Action Committee hosted MassEnergize volunteers Megan Sullivan and Community and Program Support Specialist Ariha Jain on June 23, who presented the organization's three-tiered offering: a peer-learning network, a customizable "Action Focus" website with resident testimonials and cross-community event sharing, and a Social Media Magic toolkit delivering at least eight pre-made posts per month to a community's own Facebook and Instagram channels. Committee member Andy O'Neill, who also volunteers with the Energy Navigators, called the social media offering "priceless" and said it "could move the needle on some of the variables that are very quietly killing us." Members estimated membership for Orleans — classified as a small community with just under 5,000 permanent households — at approximately $1,000 per year, with a one-time website setup cost of roughly $10,000, and noted the town has already appropriated $100,000 for its Climate Action Roadmap without spending the full amount. The committee agreed to brief the town's communications director, Amanda Converse, and to place a formal membership recommendation on the July ECAC agenda.
