ORLEANS — The Orleans Select Board postponed a decision on a $450,000 request for the 44 Main Street redevelopment, with members saying the project's purpose remains undefined before the November 16 Special Town Meeting. Clerk Mark Mathison said he could not support the figure without specifics, noting he "voted against supporting this $450,000" at a prior meeting, while member Mary Wright pushed to frame the project as economic development rather than housing. The board took nine other roll-call votes, all passing 4-0, including licenses for the Outermost Roots and Blues Festival at Nauset Beach, a Halloween Stroll road closure, Cultural Council and Economic Development Committee reappointments, Multi-Member Body Policy amendments, and signing of the Special Town Meeting warrant.
A separate correction reallocated roughly $200,050 in mooring fee revenue under state law, leaving $382,502 in excess levy capacity for labor negotiations reserves. No vote was taken on the 44 Main Street article itself.
