Orleans water quality panel reorganizes leadership. The Marine and Fresh Water Quality Committee unanimously re-elected Carolyn Auty as chair, Richard Levy as vice chair, and Robert Mullin as clerk. Mullin was also unanimously confirmed to continue as the committee's liaison to the Wastewater Management Advisory Committee.
The committee discussed cyanobacteria monitoring, noting that Boland Pond's microcystin concentration exceeded 500 parts per billion on July 8, triggering a health warning that was lifted by July 22. Baker Pond alum treatment, approved conditionally by the Brewster Conservation Commission, awaits review from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, with the Orleans Conservation Commission vote expected August 4.
