Wastewater committee approves prior minutes, reviews sewer phases

ORLEANS — Wastewater committee updates Orleans sewer construction and water quality plans. Chair Kevin Galligan and six committee members heard from Program Coordinator John Nelson that Phase 2 connect orders will mail March 31, 2026, valid through March 31, 2027. Charles Carlson requested additional funding at a fall Special Town Meeting for a phosphorus removal basin on Deer Run and a Total Maximum Daily Load on Nauset Estuary.
Mike Giggey of Wright-Pierce presented nitrogen removal projections for Phases 1 through 4. The Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners extended drought restrictions through December 31, 2026.
