ORLEANS — Shellfish committee heard water-closure updates and changed its monthly meeting schedule. The Shellfish and Waterways Improvement Advisory Committee unanimously adjourned its June 30 meeting after receiving reports on beach closures from Nate Sears, the natural resources officer. Nauset Beach South remains closed since May 29 due to piping plovers, expected to reopen by early August; red tide closure in Nauset Estuary was lifted June 12 with algal bloom levels trending down.

Rock Harbor nears completion with water as the final item. Starting in August, the committee will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6:15 p.m., with the July meeting canceled. Bill Amaru and John Quigley are departing the committee.
