ORLEANS — Select Board appointed new veterans committee members and approved budget transfers in a meeting marked by a 3-2 split over committee succession policy. Members Mefford Runyon, Mary Wright, and Kevin Galligan voted to waive the term-limit policy for Rich Levy's one-year reappointment to the Marine and Freshwater Quality Committee, while Vice Chair Michael Herman and Clerk Mark Mathison opposed the waiver on succession-planning grounds. The board unanimously appointed Melissa Phillips as regular member and Alan Chace as associate member to the Veterans Committee and unanimously approved FY26 year-end budget transfers and accepted a Polaris Ranger vehicle donation for Natural Resources.
