Orleans Transportation and Bikeways Committee backs one-sided Main Street sidewalk with improved shoulders. Chair Peter Allgeier and members Stephanie Gaskill, Robert McDonald, Joel Porten, and Griffin Ryder, joined by Police Chief Scott MacDonald, Planning Director George Meservey, and DPW Deputy Director Calvin Sutton, reached consensus on the 1.25-mile project from Academy Place to Beach Road after VHB engineer Josh Cone-Reddy presented field survey results showing the town owns a 60-foot right-of-way. The committee identified four critical crunch points requiring special design consideration and directed DPW Deputy Director Calvin Sutton and VHB to analyze cost implications and design options before final engineering.
