Orleans Planning Board closes its fourth required public hearing on the draft Orleans Comprehensive Plan, a multi-year initiative informed by 150 visioning workshop attendees, 569 survey responses, and three rounds of board and committee input. Planning Director George Meservey presented nine major themes organized across Natural Systems, Community Systems, and Built Systems, with an overarching growth management policy aimed at guiding development toward areas with adequate infrastructure. The board also heard a District Improvement Financing feasibility study from Economic Development Coordinator Amanda Converse and MassDevelopment staff, designed to fund public projects and encourage private investment in the Village Center and downtown revitalization sites.
Next steps include town meeting and Cape Cod Commission approval.
