Orleans historic panel continues Cape addition case
Other Committee 2026-10-01 Part 2 · Meeting of October 1, 2026
Orleans historic panel sends a disputed Cape conversion back for more photos. The Old Kings Highway Historic District Committee voted unanimously to continue, rather than rule on, an application to convert a gambrel-style house into a two-story Cape with a new family-room addition, farmer's porch and Nantucket dormer on a 40,000-square-foot lot. Builder Alex Moseley and designer Tavis presented the plan on behalf of an owner identified only as Kelly; committee members said the submission lacked existing-condition elevations and site photographs needed to compare it with the current house.
One member said bluntly, "it's a beautiful house. I don't think it fits in the neighborhood." With only four members seated, a tied vote would count as a denial, a point members stressed before the applicant requested the continuance to the committee's November 5 meeting.
