Orleans Fire Station Panel Unanimously Picks Pomeroy Associates as Project Manager

ORLEANS — September 15, 2025 — Orleans fire station panel unanimously recommends Pomeroy Associates as its owner's project manager, breaking a multi-meeting deadlock. The Fire Station Building Committee voted 9-0 at its September 15 meeting to send the recommendation to Town Manager, with Special Project Coordinator Mike Salitro reporting that reference checks on both finalists — Pomeroy and Vertex — came back "glowing" and provided no basis for differentiation. Select Board Member Mark Matheson said Pomeroy's concentration of fire station and command-center projects gave the firm "an edge," while DPW Director Rich Waldo, who had supported Vertex, said he would "be happy working with either" after noting the committee's own scoring matrix had ranked Pomeroy first. The committee also approved amended minutes from its August 11 and August 18 meetings and scheduled a follow-up meeting for September 22 to compile priority questions for Pomeroy, with sewer service to the currently unserved site identified as the most time-critical issue heading into May town meeting.
