Orleans expands EV charging; fire station goes net-zero

ORLEANS — Energy committee reviews charging expansion and climate policy framework. The Energy and Climate Action Committee received presentation findings on six feasible sites for on-street EV charging and reported Level 3 chargers now installed at Depot Square, with an EV Charging Enterprise Fund under creation. A draft Environmental Policy requiring all new municipal construction to meet Specialized Energy Code (all-electric) standards was reviewed; town staff indicated the policy will serve as a strengthening baseline over time.
The Fire Station approved at town meeting incorporates net-zero energy design, the Comprehensive Plan will go before the Cape Cod Commission in June, and the Downtown and Town Cove Resiliency Project is proceeding with public workshops June 5 and 6.
