Open Space Committee discusses comprehensive plan and priority parcels.

Open Space Committee · Meeting of February 18, 2026

ORLEANS — Open Space Committee reviews comprehensive plan priorities and Bakers Pond acquisitions. Chair Lynn Dorman O'Connell, Vice Chair David Herrick, members Patty Platten and Judith Bruce, and Stephen O'Grady of the Orleans Conservation Trust convened February 18 to discuss George Meservey's presentation integrating the Open Space Committee with the town's 2026 Comprehensive Plan. Discussion addressed downtown pocket parks, multi-purpose development, and environmental criteria such as wetlands and salt marshes used to prioritize parcels as A, B, or C categories.

After extensive review of multiple Bakers Pond Road parcels and their availability for purchase, the committee voted to not pursue any of those properties at this time.
