Open Space Committee approves prior meeting minutes, discusses 72 Tonset Road and public awareness.

Open Space Committee · Meeting of March 25, 2026

ORLEANS — Open Space Committee approves prior minutes, explores friends group for 72 Tonset Road. Chair Lynn Dorman O'Connell reported on ongoing storm cleanup at the recently acquired town property and the committee's discussion of forming an independent "Friends of Open Space" group modeled after the "Friends of Snow Library." Select Board liaison Andrea Reed cautioned that any such group must operate independently, address liability concerns, and align with the Orleans Comprehensive Plan. The committee voted unanimously to approve minutes from January 21 and February 16.

Committee members also discussed plans for a website-based awareness campaign, with Vice Chair David Herrick volunteering to draft materials highlighting landowner conservation options.
