Historical Commission approves $14,000 for preservation education

ORLEANS — The Orleans Historical Commission approved $14,000 for historic preservation education and advanced expanded property evaluation work. Chair Edmund Marcarelli's commission voted unanimously to retain a consultant for $10,000 and an intern for approximately $4,000 to develop social media content and educational materials on historic preservation. The commission also voted unanimously to appoint members Charles Ellis and Edmund Marcarelli to a subcommittee to review contractor Eric Dray's estimate for expanded evaluation of approximately 93 previously unsurveyed properties; Dray has already photographed more than 120 buildings and projected early fall completion.
