ORLEANS — Fire-Rescue Building Committee reviews four fire station designs as project advances. The committee examined four architectural massing concepts — Net Zero, Police Replica, Transitional, and Two Gables — for the proposed fire station during its March 23 meeting, with geotech soil borings scheduled to begin March 26. Fire Chief Geof Deering raised operational concerns about certain designs' efficiency, while committee members discussed preferences ranging from the Transitional and Two Gables aesthetics to the modern Net Zero concept.
Kathy McNamara, Select Board Chair, emphasized that the committee focus on public outreach and securing Annual Town Meeting support rather than making immediate design decisions. Public open houses are scheduled for March 25, March 30, April 7, April 15, and April 24 at the Fire Station.
