ORLEANS — Finance Committee reviews $59.6M Fire Station in capital plan. Finance Committee Chair Elaine Baird presided over the joint meeting with the Select Board, where Darrin Tangeman presented the 2027 Capital Budget including a $59.625 million, 37,000-square-foot Fire/Rescue Station and $4.625 million in free cash certification. Town Manager Kim Newman outlined the five-year Capital Improvement Plan and recommended postponing major projects beyond 2027 to manage $106 million in outstanding debt and $41.1 million in approved but unissued debt.
Committee members expressed concerns about debt sustainability and the need to spread capital expenses evenly over multiple years.
