Finance Committee approves budget, rejects wastewater design

ORLEANS — Finance Committee endorses balanced operating budget, rejects wastewater design phase. The Orleans Finance Committee voted 8-0-0 to approve the fiscal 2027 operating budget, which Finance Director Darrin Tangeman confirmed was balanced without requiring school-cost overrides. By 3-5-0, members rejected a $2.7 million appropriation for Phase 4 preliminary design of the Coastal Wastewater Management Project, citing long-term debt concerns.

The committee also approved major capital items including $2.5 million for Phase 3 sewer construction and a $2,018,426 Community Preservation Program budget.
