Depot Square charging station nears completion at minimal town cost

Orleans energy committee advances charging station and climate planning. The Energy and Climate Action Committee reported the Depot Square Level 3 fast charging station installation is progressing well with a net town cost of approximately $7,500 after reimbursements and grants cover nearly all of the $200,000 project budget. Assistant Town Manager Kim Grant reported that the Climate Action Plan Request for Proposals closed on February 13 with three bids; contract award is anticipated by end of February 2026.
Vice Chair Hakim Janah raised concerns that solar project contract delays could extend completion timelines. The committee determined the Energy Navigator Program's request for $10,000 in direct town funding cannot be processed in its current ad hoc status and agreed to meet with town officials to explore alternative structures and potential shared resources.
