Conservation Commission · Meeting of August 4, 2026

ORLEANS — The Orleans Conservation Commission unanimously approved an alum treatment project for Baker Pond aimed at reducing phosphorous and limiting algae growth. The seven-member board voted 7-0-0 to advance the subaqueous application method proposed by BSC Group, Inc., which targets approximately 17 percent of the pond. The commission also approved a single-family dwelling at 18 Cole Place for applicant Donald Connelly within a wetland buffer zone, contingent on removal of impervious surfaces.

Three residential projects were continued for further review at later August and September dates, including house-replacement and boathouse amendments. Additional approvals included a bulkhead Certificate of Compliance and tree-removal authorization for safety.
