Orleans Board of Health approved variance for Pilgrim Lake accessory dwelling unit construction. Vice Chairman John P. Smith, Jr. presided as four board members voted unanimously to allow construction of a one-bedroom, two-bathroom unit at 17 Pilgrim Lake Terrace East using an existing 1,500-gallon septic tank, provided the property connects to municipal sewer once available in Phase 3.
The board also approved $1,140 for Orleans Police Narcan supplies and gave Health Department staff authority to approve future opioid-fund requests up to $5,000 without prior approval. In enforcement action, the board warned the 8 Old Tote Road property owner that serious fines would be considered if construction progress does not resume by August 20.
