Board of Health · Meeting of April 16, 2026
Orleans Board of Health voted unanimously to advance short-term rental regulations for Town Counsel review. The five-member board, led by Chairman Joseph Hartung, directed Director of Health and Human Services Alex Fitch's draft framework to legal counsel for consideration of zoning-compliance questions. The regulations, developed through benchmarking with Cape towns including Mashpee, position the Health Department as the regulatory authority conducting inspections and issuing rental certificates.
The board also unanimously approved a swimming pool fence variance for 7 Doane Road and approved five temporary food permits for seasonal events.
