Board approves pool fence variance at Kescayogansett Road

Board of Health approved 48-foot pool fence variance.

Board of Health · Meeting of September 3, 2026

ORLEANS — Board of Health approved 48-foot pool fence variance. The Orleans Board of Health voted 3-0 to approve a variance allowing a pool fence at 63 Kescayogansett Road to exceed the standard 20-foot distance requirement, finding that automatic covers and self-closing alarmed gates protect public health and safety. Chairman Joseph Hartung recused himself; an abutter opposed the variance on visibility grounds but the Board found the safety features addressed these objections.

In related business, the Board continued a pool fence variance for 65 Towhee Lane to September 17 and a sewer connection hearing for 8 Old Tote Road to October 15, and approved temporary food permits, septic installer licenses, and a Title 5 waiver.
