ORLEANS — Architectural Review Committee approves solar carports project, weighs affordable housing design. Quinn Allen's application to cover Seashore Park Inn parking with steel solar panels passed unanimously, with panels expected to produce 250,000 kilowatts annually. A sign-replacement application for Jo Mama's New York Bagels failed on the first motion 2-3-0 but passed 4-1-0 on a second motion.
The committee also reviewed a proposed 74-unit mixed-income development at 66 and 76 Route 6A from Housing Assistance Corporation, Habitat for Humanity, and Preservation of Affordable Housing, raising concerns about vegetation screening, porch setbacks, and pedestrian safety on busy Route 6A.
